On April 10th 2023 Joy Carlece Huskey of Yakima went to be with her heavenly father and loved ones before her after a long and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Joy was born on March 1, 1943 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Jesse and Carl Sandefur. Joy worked as a cocktail waitress at the Caravan in Yakima for many years then she worked for Snokist apple warehouse until she retired.
Joy will be remembered for her unconditional love and strength that she shared with so many in her life along with her sass and spunk. Her ability to love everyone around her unconditionally was her specialty. She spent her retired days making her flower beds and yard beautiful with green grass and a variety of flowers with her daughter Pam, playing bingo, playing many games of Skipbo and taking trips to the casino with friends and family. Joy’s strength was something that amazed so many of us no matter the hardships in life she always had a smile and twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes. Her attitude was always positive and many times she said “This isn’t going to take me down, I’m going to take it down”. Joy always took care of everything and everyone in her life in her last days she was taken the best care by her granddaughter Shantel and her Husband Ethan and her Daughter Pam.
She is survived by her Daughter Pam Towksjhea of Yakima, Sons Billy (Trish) Caldwell of Vancouver, WA Jimmy (Tawmie) Caldwell of Hansen, ID. Granddaughter Shantel (Ethan) Zink of Yakima, WA. Sister Connie (Bob) Hiroo of Kent, WA, half-sister Wanda Cooper of Conway AR, and Lou Cook of Jonesboro, AR. Along with many special nieces and nephews and 10 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren and many neighborhood kids who adopted her as their Grandma Joy.
Joy is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Douglas M. Huskey. Along with her son Jeff Towksjhea, Mother and Father Carl and Jesse Sandefur and 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
There will be an Open House to honor joy on May 20th at the Huskey Home in Yakima.
