Janet Louise Jackson Noll was born November 8, 1941, one month later, her mom heard about Pearl Harbor while pushing newborn Janet’s stroller. Her dad was Marshal Andrew Jackson Sr, and her mom was Theda Mae West Jackson. She was the second of their 3 children. She was born in Shelton Washington and lived there through high school, graduating from Irene S Reed High in 1960. She met Elmer Noll at the roller-skating rink that her mom worked at. Elmer and Janet were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1960. Two short years later they had a son, David Gene Noll and a daughter, Anita Louise Noll. They moved to Burien from Shelton, when Elmer secured a job at Boeing. They moved to Maple Valley and started building a home and garage, or a garage first, to live in while they built the house. By 1974, a move to Yakima Washington led them to the home they eventually retired in, 45+ years later.
While Elmer continued his career in aerospace as a machinist, Janet made a home for her family of 4, plus various dogs, cats and Anita’s horse. Janet worked at Sears for several years, in catalog sales. In the early 1990s she worked for the Yakima Mall, at the information booth. She thrived in her work, helping shoppers and keeping up with the Security Officers and other mall employees. We hear many stories told by those wise and fun people.
Elmer and Janet ran Elmer’s Sharpening Service, then Elmer’s Clipper Service from 1980 until it was sold in 2003. Elmer started ECS Machining, making airplane parts for commercial and military use. Janet served as our President during those almost 20 years before closing down a successful run in 2014.
Janet and her family enjoyed camping, travel, especially to the ocean. Stormy weather was Janet’s favorite. Bundle up! It’s cold in February, at the ocean, during a storm. It was, and we did. And enjoyed the fireplace and hot chocolate after a brisk walk, in the brisk WIND and driving RAIN.
Trips to North Caroline, Yellowstone and several to the Washington and Oregon Coast, and others, created many happy memories. Trips up Tiger Mountain on the dirt bikes was a thrill too. Janet and Anita on one, and Elmer and David on the other. Following the Naches Trail and other adventures.
Janet enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafts, was a creative cook and baker, and especially enjoyed photography. She loved the critters we share our world with especially our several cats, a few dogs, and lastly the Honey Bunny rabbit.
Janet was comforted by her faith, all of her life. She is now in the hands of her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Marshal Jackson Jr (Buster), and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Elmer Noll, her son David Noll (Laurie Noll), her Daughter Anita Noll (Bill Dees), grandsons Jonathan Noll and Matthew Noll, one great granddaughter, her sister Linda Jackson and many nieces and nephews.
We love you, and miss you every day, Janet!
And everyone please remember, if something isn’t working right, try Janet’s advice and give it…………….. “a good swift kick”.
A memorial service for Janet is planned for Monday August 9, 2021 at 2:00 at the Keith and Keith Chapel. With a reception to follow.
