He was born October 1, 1933 to Alta and Cecil Harris in the Yakima County Hospital. He spent his growing up years with his father in Cowiche, attending the Highland School District. In his early twenties Gordon enlisted in the US Army. He did his basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas. He was then stationed at Fort Lewis and Camp Hanford after which he was shipped to Korea where he finished his service before returning stateside and was discharged.
After his Army service Gordon went to work as a truck driver. He drove for a variety of companies including Leonardo Truck Lines in Selah. Gordon made friends easily and loved to laugh and joke around. He loved to bowl, camp out and fish, as a matter of fact he would rather fish than anything else.
He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Mary Harris of Yakima; four daughters, eight step children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gordon was preceded in death by his father Cecil, his mother Alta, two sons and two grandsons.
