Fred received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree, and became a pharmacist. Fred served in the Army in WWII as a Specialist 5. He served in New Guinea and the Philippines. Fred received the Philippines Liberation Metal with Bronze Star. Dad was a great American success story. He was raised by his mother with limited economic means, was a WWII veteran and attended college on the GI Bill. He was the owner of Fred Mutch Drugs and Mayor of Toppenish. He was instrumental in the development of 'Where the West Still Lives', the Toppenish, WA City of murals. Dad was a man of high morals and treated every person with great respect. He was a father, husband and friend that will be greatly missed. He leaves us memories of an intelligent, humble person that always tried to do the right thing.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Mutch of Yakima; sons, Keith Mutch of Seattle, WA, John Mutch of Richland, WA, Paul Mutch of Portland, OR; daughters, Mary Smith of Newberg, OR, Suzanne Mutch of Brookings, OR, Kathleen Mutch of Yakima and Leslie Rowe of Emmett, ID; brothers, James Mutch of Los Altos, CA and his grandchildren, Zachary and Isaac Bell, Justin and Michael Smith, Tiffanie and Andrew Mutch. He is preceded in death by his mother, Cecelia Baker; father, Keith Mutch and brother, John Mutch.
In lieu of flowers donations in Fred’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o Keith & Keith Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A funeral service will be Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel, burial will follow at West Hills Memorial Park, with full Military Honors.
