1926, passed away the morning of February 11, 2013. Her husband, of 68 years, Carl was at her side
when she passed. Jean was born and raised in the Walkerville / Butte MT area where she attended St.
Lawrence's grade school and graduated from Girl's Central High School. She loved to sing in the church
choir. The nuns loved her voice and had her sing on special occasions in the church. She was a majorette
in the FOE Eagles marching band that her father played in. She met Carl at the Eagles in Butte while he
was stationed there in the Navy attending the Montana School of Mines for officer training. They were
secretly married on December 15, 1944. (Carl wasn't supposed to be married and attending officer's
school). Soon after they were married Carl was discharged from the Navy and took his new bride home
to Cowiche where they lived most of their married life except for a few years in the Mt Vernon, WA
area.
Jean loved to garden and at one time achieved the honor of Master Gardner. She took care of their
children John and Paula, the house, and Carl's business books when he was an independent general
contractor. She also worked as an apple sorter at Cowiche Growers for a while and waited tables at
various restaurants in Cowiche and Tieton.
Jean is survived by her husband Carl, two children: John (Kathy) of Bonney Lake and Paula of Yakima,
four grandchildren; Hillary (Ira) Fain of Hainsville, IL, Heather (Terry) Dennis of Cowiche, Jenny (Charles)
Williams of Colorado Springs, and Eric (Amanda) West of Tacoma, and 10 great grandchildren; Ezuire,
Krystell, and Cyrus Fain, Parker and Drake Dennis, Andrew and Kellan West, Kaylee Fattel, Lance and
Devin Williams.
Services for Jean will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 West Yakima Avenue in Yakima. There will
be Viewing on Thursday, February 14, 2013; from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services are at 1:00 February 15, 2013 with
internment at West Hills Memorial Park following. After the Graveside Services there will be a luncheon
at Paula's house, 802 N 40th Ave #48.
Jean will be greatly missed by her family and all of her friends. May she rest in peace and His perpetual
light forever shine upon her.
