Edward came to Yakima from South Dakota at an early age. He attended grade school at St. Joseph’s and also attended Marquette High School for a short time. Ed received his high school GED from YVCC. Ed enlisted in the US Army in 1949 serving mainly in Okinawa. Receiving his Honorable Discharge he found work with US Civil Service as a Unit Aide for Army reserve unit 217th Transportation, later re-activated as the 737th Transportation Co., in Yakima, WA. Ed also maintained records for the 6380th CAMG Co., and the 375th Engr Co. in Ellensburg, WA.
Ed married Vera Rose Markel on June 6, 1953. They made their home in Yakima. Ed and Vera had a wonderful marriage of over 63 years. He firmly believed that the good Lord sent this wonderful woman just for him.
Ed worked at various occupations with stops at the US Army, Postal Service, and Unit Aide for 737th Transportation Company, Peoples Store, and retiring from the Bon Marche in 1999.
He was active in the Knights of Columbus Council #6097, and volunteered at Holy Family Catholic Church. His hobbies were fishing, reading and being a DIY novice.
Ed is survived by his wife Vera Rose Baumiller; children Annalise Millet aka Diane Marie Baumiller of St. Louis, MO, Nancy L (Bryant) Baumiller of St. Louis, MO, Jeffrey P Baumiller of Yakima, WA, Larry D. Baumiller of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Nicholas, William, and James Bryant of Yakima, WA, and Natima and Jessica Baumiller of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; stepfathers Vincent Moser, and Henry Champagne of Yakima, WA; brothers Reinhold Schuler (Hester), John (Harriett), Arthur (Dolores) Baumiller, Andrew (Helen) Baumiller; sisters Katherine Lang of South Dakota, Alvina Poland, Lydia Yetter (Don), and Katherine Hutcheson (Paul), of Spokane WA.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Holy Family Church. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
