Edith Rosetta Riggs, went home to be with the Lord, September 22, 2015. Edith was born August 28, 1935 to Pearl K. Whiteside & Hazel J. (Kelley) Whiteside in Lead Hill, Arkansas. She was one of 8 children. She attended school in Bergman, Arkansas. At 18 she married Jesse (Happy) Riggs. They had three daughters, Diana (Boyd) Turner of Vancouver, WA, Betty (Roger) King of Yakima and Peggy (the late Arnold) Gordon of Yakima. Her grandchildren, John (Danea) King, Erica Peppers, Dustin Peppers, Andy (Poppy) Gordon, Virgil Gordon & (the late) Clifton Gordon; her great grandchildren, Allison King, John Christian King, Lindsey King, Austin Peppers, Abigail Peppers, Drew, Holly, Misty, Wendy & Alexis Gordon, Maddy Pearce and Jessica McAskill; sisters, Sarah Andreas and Clara Bristow.
Edith & Happy traveled to the Tieton Cowiche area in 1964. Edith worked 35 years at Strand Apples. Her fondest memory there was working beside Judy Fordahl everyday. She made great friends there.
She liked Bingo, trips to the beach in Lincoln City, visits to the casino, family BBQ’s, family Seahawk parties and calls from sisters Sarah Andreas & Clara Bristow.
Edith is preceded in death by her spouse Jesse (Happy) Riggs, parents, Pearl & Hazel Whiteside, siblings, Lucille Holmes, Dolly Gellen, Raymond Whiteside and Battie Whiteside. She is survived by her children, grands & greats, numerous nieces & nephews.
Memorials in Edith’s name can be made to St. Jude’s c/o Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26th at Rainier Memorial Center with burial following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
