Doug moved to Yakima in the early 1970s from North Bend, Or.
Doug worked many years at Hanford. He had Mac's Pizza in Yakima with his wife, Karen. His last working years were spent with Upper Valley Farm Supply and lastly, RDO Equipment, John Deere before he became disabled in 2006. Doug's work ethic was very important and doing a job well done was his goal. Those who Doug served were always happy to see him and would look for him for help. He was well recognized within his positions both by customers and supervisors for his high quality and dedication to his work. He loved his family and enjoyed many trips to Sun River and the beach to rejoice in our togetherness. He loved stained glass work and made beautiful handmade pieces that he would give to those he loved. He also created many beautiful concrete pieces.
His wish for all children was that they would see the beauty, and how precious life really was. He inspired his children to be giving, loving, people, and to see not only the goodness and potential in themselves but in others as well. He was a kind and willing helper to any who needed him. Always willing to listen, and give of himself.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Vickie McDougall of Yakima; son, Jan Yanosko of Seattle; daughter and son in law, Marie and Ron Saylors of Yakima; daughter, Kristen Plunkett, daughter, Amanda Plunklett and daughter, Sydney Row all of Yakima; three grandchildren, Alex Yanosko of Minot, North Dakota, Holly Vance of Yakima and his miracle granddaughter, Atreya Stevens and sister Sharon Laughlin of Portland Or.
