Doris was born in Yakima on December 3, 1923 to Chester and Hazel Stewart. She was a graduate of Cowiche High School and attended Whitman Business College. During World War II, she served in Army Intelligence as a WAC and was assigned to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., where she attained the rank of sergeant.
Doris married Donald C. Adams in 1946 and raised three children. She worked for 17 years as a medical receptionist and transcriptionist. She was a much loved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, and enjoyed the ocean, seagulls, cats, and all types of birds. She especially loved the Cowiche area where she lived for over 80 years before moving to Seattle in 2009.
Doris is survived by her three children, Bryce Adams and Sharon (Dave) Stoltenberg of Seattle, and Marieta (Mickey) Smith of Davenport, Washington; and two grandchildren, Jyl Stoltenberg of Renton, Washington, and Erica Stoltenberg of Arlington, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald and her two sisters: Louise (Paul) Saxton and Phyllis Dunifon.
At her request there will be no service. If desired, memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice.
