Doris Beverly Anderson (Dori to all her friends and family) passed away Friday, November 4th in Yakima at the age of 83. Dori was born on June 10, 1933 in Chico, California to the late Charles and Lyla Anderson. She was the youngest of 11 children.
She grew up in Yakima, attended Franklin Jr. High in 1947 and in 1964 went to work at Memorial Hospital as a LPN, where she was known by all as Andy. Dori enjoyed working at Memorial Hospital, going to all the softball games sponsored by Memorial, and watching the teams the other nurses played on. Dori (Andy) retired in 1994 to enjoy the things she loved doing.
Dori loved going to the beach. On one such occasion, Dori would always enjoy recollecting a funny story where she was standing on the jetty at Ocean Shores when a wave came up and washed over the top of her soaking her from head to toe.
She also enjoyed fishing, picnicking, miniature golf, organizing all the family’s reunions and having company over. She had a love for animals, especial cat and dogs, with a soft heart for strays. Aunt Dori was loved deeply by all her nieces and nephews and will truly be missed.
Doris is survived by one sister, Majorie Duggins of Tacoma, 31 nieces, nephews and even more great and great-great nieces and nephews.
