Donna Marie Haley passed away on January 5th, 2019 at the Cottage in the Meadow after a short struggle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on October 7, 1947 in Yakima, WA to Ethel M. and Jewel Q. Haley.
Donna worked as a CNA at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Yakima for many years and before retiring as a home health care nurse in Roy, WA in 2002. Donna also tended bar at Susie’s Saloon, The Circle Inn, and Bright Spot (aka James Gang) in Yakima, WA.
Donna loved her grand puppies Bella and Oliver and when she was not working, Donna enjoyed playing in Yakima’s pool league, camping, making all kinds of craftwork and spending time with friends. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Donna would tell you that her greatest accomplishment was and is her daughter and raising her nieces and nephews.
Donna is survived by her daughter CW2 (RET) Tina M. Haley-Laird (Julie Laird) of Klamath Falls, OR ; her niece Christine M. Haley of Selah, WA; great nephew Steven Haley; 2 great nieces, Morgan Haley and Meranda Sanchez (Anthony) ; a great-great nephew and niece Jayden and Amelia Sanchez, her step-grandchildren and great grandchildren and many adopted nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her paternal aunts and uncle, aunt Mary, aunt Ruby, aunt Freddie and uncle Preston, all of Louisiana and many cousins.
Donna is preceded in death by her mother Ethel M. Haley (Nee Mook) of Yakima; father Jewel Q. Haley of Franklinton, LA; sister Katherine M. Haley of Selah; grandfather Henry Mook of South Dakota; grandmother Catherine Tessier of Yakima; Fleet and Dixie Haley of Franklinton, LA and son-in-law James E. McLendon.
Donna’s family would like to thank all the facility staff at Cottage in the Meadow for the love and care they provided her and the family in Donna’s final moments.
