Dean was born November 7, 1936 in Rapid City, SD to Reinhold and Hester (Grass) Schuler. The family moved to the Yakima Valley when Dean was 6 years old. Dean was raised and educated in Yakima.
Dean served in the U.S. Air force from 1955 to 1963. He met Carol Noel and they got married in 1956.
Dean went to work at Boise Cascade in Yakima. He was later transferred to Cle Elum where he was supervisor of the logging yard in Easton. In 1977 Dean was transferred to the Naches location and later back to the Yakima yard where he then retired, after 42 years of employment.
Dean enjoy being able to spend time with his family and friends. During the summer he enjoyed going fishing and boating with his wife and family. After his wife’s unexpected death Dean spent much of his time at Suntide’s Golf Course with several of his close friends.
Dean is survived by his daughter, Connie (Don) Siebol of Yakima; sons, Jeff (Alma) Schuler and Doug
(Denise) Schuler of Yakima; Joe Schuler of Cle Elum; sister, Carol (Chuck) Smiley of Kennewick;
Aunt Neva Harper of Nevada; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Steve and Tappy Rish of Kennewick, and brother-in-law, Rick Fisk of Tieton, also eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dean is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Carol M Schuler; parents, Reinhold and Hester
Schuler; brother and sister-in-law, Stan and Lois Schuler; sister-in-law, Connie Fisk; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Chuck and Kathy Noel and nephew, Ralph Smiley.
Dean will live forever in our hearts and memories. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 9th Avenue, Yakima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society on care of Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA 98902.
