David was born on August 4, 1942 to Wayne and Jessie Stiles on the east side of Yakima. He attended St. Joe’s Grade school and went on to attend Davis High School and then later graduated from Naches high School in 1960 after moving to Gleed with his family, where he helped build the family home.
After graduation he got a job at Boise Cascade Mill, where he worked for many years. He later went on to work at Pacific Power as a driver/operator for 28 years.
On August 22, 1963 he married Carol Schlichting and adopted her son, Ron. They went on to have three more sons; Dennis, Todd, and Marty. They divorced in 1967.
In 1969 he married Juanita Snyder, who had five children. He built their family home. It was a full, happy home. They were married until her death in December of 2005.
In 2007, after losing the love of his life, he found comfort in a mutual friend, Sarah Mathews, and they were companions until his death.
David had a sharp wit and off-beat sense of humor. He would get a sparkle in his eye when he was about to make a quick-witted remark or point out something odd that nobody else had seemed to notice. He was easy to get along with and had many friends. He was kind and had a helpful nature. He wouldn’t think twice about lending a helping hand to anyone in need.
He enjoyed fishing, rock hounding, prospecting, wood cutting in the mountains, and gardening. He loved anything to do with the outdoors. David was also on a bowling league for over 30 years.
David will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Jessie Stiles, his wife Juanita, his brother John, and his son, Dennis.
He is survived by his sister, Peggy, his brother, Steve, three sons, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as step-children, step-grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Keith & Keith on Friday, February 16th at 12 p.m. Viewing will be on Thursday, February 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. A burial will follow funeral services at West Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something kind for someone in David’s name.
