Dave was born in Shelton, Washington on September 27, 1970 to Robert (Bob) Smith and Debbie (Owens) Bell. His family moved to Selah Washington during his freshman year of high school where he graduated Class of 1989 with many new friends.
Dave went on to build a successful career in the home construction business. He was a perfectionist and worked extremely hard to build a reputation that was respected within the construction community. His work definitely spoke for itself and was always highly sought after strictly by word of mouth. He was fortunate to meet many great people along the way who became long time friends.
Dave met and married Vickie McPherson and together they have a son, Teryn. They relocated to Spokane, where he enjoyed camping, fishing and the Idaho outdoors. He was an active leader in Teryn's extracurricular activities and Cub Scouts. Together they utilized his wood working abilities for derby cars and other scouting projects. Upon returning to Yakima Valley, Dave bought a simple small house and transformed it into a wonderful home where he and his family were able to enjoy the East Valley area.
He enjoyed history and enthusiastically discussing politics (please don't vote for Hillary). He was an avid fan of old TV and never missed a night of MeTV. Dave was a kind, considerate and selfless man and never turned down an opportunity to help. He valued his family and friends very much. Hanging out with family, friends, uncles, at Marx shop, the people at Shuel’s lumber yard, having a cold beer at Cathie's and reconnecting with his childhood BFF Tori (Brown) Maroldo were all extremely important to him.
Dave is loved and will be dearly missed by so many. Survivors include his wife, Vickie; parents, Robert "Bob" Smith of Oregon and Debbie (Jim) Bell of Montana; brother, Kevin (Toni) Smith of Idaho; sister, Angie (Shane) Zerr of Yakima; son, Teryn Smith; step-children, Stacey Calvert and Curtis (Kari) Calvert; grandchildren Levi, Desirae, Ryder, Gage, Tovah, Sydney, Ashlyn, many aunts, uncles, nieces, and one nephew. He was preceded in death by Step Dad Robert Kiholm.
A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2016 at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
