Danny Joe Harris, 74, of Yakima, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2021. He was born on November 16, 1946, in Yellville, Arkansas to Johnny and Virginia Harris. His family moved to Yakima in 1954. He graduated from Highland High School in 1965.
Danny was a very hard worker and knowledgeable of agriculture. He truly loved planting new blocks of apple trees, making sure the rows were straight as could be. Over the years, he was employed at Marley Orchards for 27 years, Anderson Rock for 3 years, Holtzinger Fruit for 3 years, and was still working at Evans Fruit at the time of his passing where he has been for 20 plus years.
Danny always enjoyed outdoor activities whether it be snowmobiling, side by sides, fishing trips to Big Bay and motorcycle rides, especially his 10 day trip to Sturgis Motorcycle Rally last year. He was a wonderful husband and best friend to his wife of 40 years Linda Sue Weiler-Harris. Danny loved his granddaughter Ashley, whom he raised as a daughter. He was a very social person, having too many friends to list. He could make new friends where ever he went. He especially loved and enjoyed spending any free time with his grandchildren, Mia, Marcello and Savannah, who came regularly to our home to spend time with Papa!
Danny is survived by his wife Sue; granddaughter Ashley (Cesar), grandchildren Alea (17), Sadie (9), Mia (5), Marcello (11 mo.); niece Syrilda and Savannah Welch (9); son William Todd (Veronica) Harris, grandchildren Alex Harris and Anthony Harris, great grandchildren Abram and Elsie; daughter Traci (Kenny) Murphy, grandchildren Trey Harris and Jordan Harris, grandchild Rowan; brothers JR (Elisa) Harris, Kenny (Diane) Harris of Randle, Washington, Billie Harris; sister Sue (Craig) Harris of Boise, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Johnny and Virginia Harris, brother Gillus Harris, and sister Judy Harris.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 7th from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral, 902 W Yakima Ave. A funeral for Danny will be held Friday, October 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Rainier Memorial Center Chapel, with the Burial to follow at the Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
