Daniel William Dittmar was born December 3, 1954 in Yakima, WA to Robert John Dittmar and Jeannine (Crawford) Lamb. Daniel passed on the morning of July 29, 2024 at the Cottage in the Meadow in Yakima with his wife by his side following a valiant battle with esophageal Cancer.
Daniel grew up in Yakima, attending St. Paul’s Grade School, Carroll and Davis High schools, Yakima Valley Community College and Washington State University. He graduated at the top of his class in 2001 with a BS in Psychology and a BA in Business Administration. Daniel was a professional musician, both guitar and vocalist, and a real estate agent. In 2007, Daniel purchased Century 21 Central Realty. He was chosen as Designated Broker of the year in 2011. Unfortunately, due to health issues Daniel had to sell his business in 2013. He continued to work in real estate part time, finally retiring at the end of 2016. Prior to Daniel’s illness, he loved taking flying lessons, playing tennis up to 5 times a week and traveling, especially to Hawaii.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife Linda (Freson) of Yakima, siblings Thomas Dittmar Sr. (Marty) of Yakima, Michele (Dittmar) Belcher (Cory) of McCleary, WA, Mike Dittmar of Yakima, Auntie Michaeleen and Uncle Jim Stimac of Peru, Illinois. Nieces and nephews, Natalie Carlson of California, Tom Dittmar Jr. (Julie) of Yakima, Renee (Dittmar) White (Scott) of Yakima, Christy (Belcher) Townsend (Josh) of McCleary and Mollie Belcher of McCleary, along with many cousins and numerous grand and great grand nephews and nieces throughout the Yakima Valley, Alaska, California and Illinois.
Daniel was preceded in death by his first wife Kim, parents Bob Dittmar and Jeannine Lamb, sister Chris Carlson, nephew Lee Carlson, grandparents William and Lucile Dittmar and Melvin and Mabel Crawford.
Daniel will be missed by all still walking this earth who knew him.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral located at 15 South 12th Avenue, Yakima on Saturday August 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held after mass at: Willow Lake Condominiums Clubhouse 2300 River Road Yakima (head north on 16th Ave to River Road, make a left turn and look for signs on the right 2300 and Willow Lake) Please reserve parking in front of clubhouse for handicapped guests and those who cannot walk very far. Go through the open gate. You will see many parking spaces throughout the complex. When parking spaces are full, you may park in front of people’s lawns. Please leave room for other cars to get through and do not block driveways.
There will be no burial, as Daniel’s ashes will be scattered into the ocean at St. Peter’s by the Sea Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona, HI after his wife’s death.
