Colette Joy Bower, 16, of Sunnyside, Washington, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Colette was born in Yakima, WA to Trenton and Bethany Bower on August 29th, 2008. She had the privilege of being the first grandchild born to both sides of the family. She was a loving daughter and sister to her three siblings, William 14, Liliana 12, and Ellis 5. From a young age she was an organizer. She loved working with her cousins to create plays and events, making things fun for those around her. She loved to serve, help, and give gifts often beginning to plan her Christmas gifts early in the year. In 2018 she had all her gifts for every member of the immediate and extended family assembled, wrapped, and under the tree before we had even started our shopping. On December 14th of 2018 at the age of 10, she suffered a brain aneurysm which left her severely debilitated. By God’s grace she retained some movement and her ability to comprehend and understand speech. Even though her injury left her without speech, she had a beautiful smile and her facial expressions spoke volumes. She had a mischievous sense of humor and loved teasing those around her. For 6 years she struggled and succeeded in overcoming many setbacks in her recovery and rehabilitation, while daily demonstrating the joy of the Lord and challenging us to do the same.
Her infectious spirit of joy and testament of God’s faithfulness will be greatly missed. Thank you to all of those who loved on and supported us along the way.
A verse that she took comfort from in her hard times is 2nd Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
There will be a public memorial on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1pm at Zillah Faith Community Church, 300 W. Centennial Dr., Zillah, WA 98953. Dessert reception to follow.
