Brian Eugene Alexander was born December 19, 1942 in Mount Clemens, MI, to Eugene J. and Ione Grace (Harrington) Alexander. He left for his eternal home on June 23, 2016 in Yakima, WA. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard, and was a truck driver for many years.
He married Treva Prock in 1964. Their marriage lasted 21 years and they had three amazing children together: Brenda, Jeff, and Brent. He was very proud of his children and their accomplishments.
Brian attended Yakima High School with Carolyn (Sue) Hughes. They didn’t date at the time, but reconnected later in life. They married on Brian’s 54th birthday (in 1996) and were like two peas in a pod!
Brian was an avid fisherman and liked being outside. He was also a big fan of NASCAR racing. He had a few health issues in recent years, which made it difficult for him to do the things he enjoyed. Sue was a constant companion and helped him the best she could. Special thanks to Sue’s niece, Starla Davis, and her sister, Kathy Gallert, for the time and care provided to him during the past few years. Also, thank you to his stepsons, James and William Martinez, who helped around the home and with healthcare. They both thought of Brian as a father.
Brian had a kind and gentle soul. Even when in pain, or feeling poorly, he would still smile and say something positive or funny. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Brian is preceded in death by his parents and two infant grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, children, 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his brother, Fredrick B. Alexander, and a sister, Sharon Williams.
Brian wanted the following epitaph: “I’ve had my beer, done some fishing, watched my NASCAR, here I come!” Per his request, he will be cremated. There will be no funeral service, however the family invites you to share your thoughts and stories on the following website: www.lepfuneralhome.com.
