Betty Jo Scott

Betty Jo Scott age 95, of Yakima, WA, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Fieldstone Memory Care. She was born September 26, 1927, to Leonard and Veta (Radir) Flickenger in Farmington, New Mexico. Betty received her early education in Joplin, MO, later receiving additional instruction at Yakima Valley Community College.

Betty married the love of her life Lloyd Scott in 1946 in Yakima, WA where they made their home together. Over the next several years they welcomed five children Ralph, Melvin, Penny, Tim, and Larry. Betty worked for the Yakima Valley School in Selah for over 20 years. She was a very hard working, giving woman who enjoyed helping those in need and caring for everyone who crossed her path including several of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children Penny Taylor of Battleground, WA, Tim Scott and wife Bev of Tucson,AZ, Larry Scott of Yakima, WA and Patricia Scott of Madison, AL; 10 grandchildren, Debra Lozier and husband Robert, Ann Blosser and husband David, Shawn Scott, Gwen Stanley and husband Doug, Teresa Von Essen and husband Craig, Tamara Hill and husband David, Samantha Scott, Jerrod Scott, Stephanie Bransford and husband Jonathan, and Felicia Krause and husband Jonathan; and 23 great-grandchildren Brock, Mikayla and husband Shane, Haley, Ryan, Brannan, Micah, Elijah, Jesse, Rylie, Loretta, Jason, Lily, Alex, Nicholas (her big helper), Andrew, Alaina, Makenzie, Xavier, Ava, Arlo, Owen, Eagen, and Ida. She is also survived by two brothers Bob Flickenger and his wife Dottie, and Jerry Flickenger and his wife Jeanie.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, sons Ralph and Melvin, and daughter-in-law Patricia.

A visitation for Betty will be held Monday, November 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 West Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA 98902. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
