1931-2025
Early morning March 25, 2025, before the early sunrise peeked over the mountains, Betty C. Tobey Brewer (93) passed peacefully in her sleep.
Betty was born April 23,1931, in Yakima, WA to Simon and Myrtle Harkema.
Betty often, with her beautiful soprano voice, sang solos in her youth at the Presbyterian Church where her dad was a Deacon and her mom a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed her free time riding bikes, roller skating and coloring.
Betty graduated from Yakima High School and St. Elizabeth Nursing School for Practical Nursing on June 9,1949. She loved working as a Practical Nurse, especially enjoyed working in the newborn/nursery department. Betty’s church and family were the most important things in her life.
Betty married William (Bill) R. Tobey on August 28,1949. They raised three daughters.
Betty married Dallas (Arty) Brewer on June 21,1983. Betty helped Arty with his Mobile Home Service doing the bookwork and scheduling appointments. They spent lots of time with family and friends, especially enjoying the pool at home. They also enjoyed camping, fishing and boating.
Betty’s daughters moved their mom and Arty to a Senior Living Community in Shoreline, WA in September of 2023 for their health and safety.
Betty was preceded in death by her dad and mom, sister Barbara VanWechel, step-mom Marie Helm/Harkema, and stepbrother Tom Helm.
Betty is survived by her husband Arty, her three daughters, Charlene, Elaine and Shirley, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren with another on the way. Betty also leaves behind her nieces and nephews and their families that were near and dear to her as well as many friends.
Viewing/Visitation with family and friends will be at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA 98902 on April 6, 2025 from 1 to 4 PM.
Funeral Services April 7, 2025 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home starting at 10:30 am, immediately followed with a reception.
Graveside Burial at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, 3001 Terrace Heights Drive, Yakima WA 98901 at 1:30 PM.
