Bertha A. Devoir, age 90, was born in Yakima, Washington on February 27, 1924. She peacefully passed on June 24, 2014 at Cottage in the Meadow.
Bertha, or Bert, as she preferred to be called, started her career as a bookkeeper in a bank. After marrying the love of her life, she settled in to being a homemaker and raised her 6 kids. With so much love to share, Bert opened her own in-home day care and was involved in raising many more children.
Besides her family and friends, Bert enjoyed knitting afghans for all family members, many pairs of baby booties, hats, scarves, mittens, and slippers. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening ginkgoes and flowers, and weekly card games with friends.
Bert is survived by 2 sisters, Pearl (Les) Conkle and Dorothy LaMoreaux, 6 children, Randy (Cathy) Devoir, Steve Devoir, Curtiss (Julie) Devoir, Donna Devoir (John Bretches), Diane (Bob) Jones, and Gail (Bob) Sandall.
She is also survived by 12 grandkids, Brandon, Ryan, Ben, Bobby, Erin, Jessica, Tyler, Danni, Megan, Katelyn, Max, and Alyx. She also had 5 great-grandchildren as well as many other family and friends.
Sister, mother, grandmother, and friend; she was deeply loved and cherished by many and will be greatly missed. She will remain forever in our hearts and never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Renton Relay for Life – Captain Gail Sandall, or, if you desire to assist the family with burial expenses for Bert, it would be greatly appreciated.
Viewing will be from 1 to 5pm on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Keith and Keith Funeral Home of Yakima. Private graveside services will be held in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
