Barbara Louise (Ice) Lavender, 85, entered her heavenly home on April 18, 2017, while at Cottage in The Meadow in Yakima, WA. She was born on February 22, 1932, to Cecil and Thelma (Mahan) Ice in Pond Fork, Missouri.
Barbara owned and operated Lindy’s Restaurant and Workman’s Café. After the businesses were sold she worked as a Dietary Manager at Community Osteopathic Hospital until her retirement in 1993. Her retirement years were spent working at latchkey and taking care of four of her five great grandsons. She enjoyed time in her yard planting flowers and trees. She also loved to read and crochet.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina Bowden; daughter-in-law, Nena Stenberg; step-son, Paul (Cathy) Lavender of Andover, KS; grandchildren, Dennis (Shannon) Bowden, Angela (Jason Kiefel) Bowden, Amanda (Eric) Hoffman, Andrea Stenberg, Adam (Katrina) Bowden, and Samantha Stenberg; great grandchildren, Coy (Sarah) Kloster, Megan Bowden, Dylan Hoffman, Morgan Bowden, Dawson Hoffman, Jess and Judah Bowden; one brother, Cloyd Ice of The Dalles, OR; and many special nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Thelma (Mahan) Ice; two brothers, Donald and Gerald Ice; husband, Don Lavender; son-in-law, Jess Bowden; and most recently her son, Rodney Ray Stenberg.
A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held at Keith & Keith 9th Avenue Chapel on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Viewing will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 3-7:00 p.m.
