Anna Clark was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on April 24, 1935 to Paul (Bud) Parsons and Opal Winder. She passed away on December 2 in Yakima. She loved her big sisters, Thelma, Marilee, and Sylvia. Her stepdad, Jack Crowe, was a real blessing in her growing up years. She attended elementary school in Sunnyside and enjoyed going to Camp Roganunda. Ann was a lead majorette for the Yakima High marching band. She continued to celebrate with her former classmates from the class of 1953 and rarely missed a reunion.
Ann was a bright and talented person. She worked as a bookkeeper at Delmonte and later in the trucking industry. She used her high-level organizational skills at R&R Construction, a company she built with her husband, Cal.
Ann had lots of hobbies throughout her life. She researched family genealogy and compiled notebooks of facts and memories. Ann approached each new collection with passion and gusto- ceramic eggs, bears, miniatures, beanie babies, pogs, milk caps, ink wells, pigs, comics, and especially McDonalds toys, clothes and memorabilia. She became a world class McDonald’s collector and attended international conventions. She created ongoing displays at the Selah McDonalds and a museum in her home to display part of her collection. Ann truly had a gift of design and display.
Ann loved to celebrate the seasons. She changed her entryway décor with each season. Spring was her favorite! We have memories of epic Easter egg hunts where everyone from 2 to 80 would hide and hunt the eggs. From her birthday on April 24 to Mother’s Day, a mardi gras of festivities ensued. This brought the family together to prep and plant her gardens and planters. Pink tulips were her favorite any time of the year.
Ann loved to play and party. Ann taught her kids to play card games as youngsters. This gave her pinochle players in her later years that recognized her Betty White resemblance, a little too late, right after she’d beat them soundly. She enjoyed daily crossword puzzles and playing Pogo online games. She had lots of fun with her Sorority, Harley and Squealers groups. She loved the eyebrow and costume parties. Her first-place duck hunter costume was awesome! The Harley cruise and trips were a blast for her too and she memorably rode through downtown Sturgis on the back of Cal’s motorcycle. She was a lot of fun and made friends wherever she went.
Ann was very proud of her home and family. She valued beautiful things and her home was always immaculate. She raved about the amazing view! In her later years her favorite spot was sitting in front of her cozy fireplace. She made lasting memories with each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed hosting summer birthday swim parties for Nicole. She drove Tiffany to preschool and bragged that Tiffany had been cleaning her house for 20 + years. It made her so happy when Justin would come up on Saturdays and eat ribs with her. Mom and Cal took all of the grandkids to Disneyland to share their love of Mickey and Donald.
Ann attended Bible Study Fellowship for 10 years. Her Ladies of Harley girlfriends led her to the bible study. She was happy to begin a relationship with God in her later years. She really enjoyed doing her weekly lessons and made wonderful friends.
She is survived by her children: Linda Manske (Steve), John Hodge (Randy), Jennie Hodge, and Artie Dennis all of Yakima. Her grandchildren: Nicole Evans, Tiffany Merrill (Darek) and Justin Dennis, Great granddaughters: Hailey Merrill and Sydney Merrill. Calvin’s children:
Sabrina Clark and Errol Clark. She is also survived by her Aunt Lucy Winder (age 103). Ann was preceded in death by her son, Jerry, her husband Calvin, her parents, and of her siblings.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Gabriel Lascar, for years of support. Remember Ann by playing with your friends and family, collecting your favorite things, and celebrating the seasons.
