Lt. Col. William Reed “Bill” Costello, Jr. (Ret.), 60, of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024. He was born on July 25, 1963 to William Reed Costello Sr. and Marjorie Louise Masters Costello. In addition to his mother, Bill was preceded in death by his nephew, Nicholas Conn.
Bill graduated from Churchill High School outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Following graduation, Bill attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He furthered his education at Trident University where he received his MBA in Business Administration. During his collegiate years, Bill was a member of the ROTC which led to a 28 year career with the Ohio National Guard.
While in the National Guard, Bill worked in Indiana at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center where he would train civilians and military personnel prior to going to Afghanistan. His military career continued at the Pentagon, where he worked for the Department of Homeland Security. Following his career in the military, Bill worked for Chase as the Vice President of Anti Money Laundering/Know Your Customer.
Outside of his professional career, Bill was very active in volunteer work. He was a member of the Worthington Hills 4th of July Committee and he was the co-chair of V.E.T.S. Ohio BRG where he was very active with the annual Chase Celebration of Service Dinner. Most recently, Bill joined the Knights of Columbus at St. Michaels.
Above all, Bill loved his family and his children. He was always seen supporting his children’s sports and school activities wearing their High School or College attire. Bill will be greatly missed by his wife of 28 years, Anne Regan Costello; children, William Reed (Maia) Costello III, Charles Costello, Libby Costello, and Cee Costello; father, William Reed “Bill” Costello’ siblings, Joseph (Linda) Costello and Lori Costello; nieces and nephews, Nick Kane, Meghan (Tanner) McKibben, Brendan Conn, and Joey Costello; great-niece Sloane McKibben; and numerous extended family members and close family friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 4pm until 7pm, at the Schoedinger Worthington Funeral Home, 6699 North High St., Worthington OH, 43085. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11am, at Saint Michael Catholic Church, 5750 North High St., Worthington OH, 43085.
