After graduating from Indiana University, he enlisted into the U.S. Army. After completing Officer Candidate School, he spent the next year touring Vietnam. While on leave in Japan, he married Rosemary Hammel and honeymooned in Hawaii, a paradise he would visit many times throughout his life.
Upon returning stateside, Tom focused on his career, his family and travel. His career in corporate finance found him moving every few years for advancement with stints in Indianapolis, Southfield, Michigan; Vienna, Virginia; South Bend, Indiana; Hudson, Ohio; and then to Salt Lake City, Utah.
After retiring in 2002, he focused on three of his great loves; helping raise his granddaughter Mary, golf and visiting his second home in Maui. Combining all three every chance he got.
