Susan L. Stevens

Susan Stevens, 88, of Columbus, passed away on January 3, 2024. She was born on September 23, 1935, in Columbus to the late Dewitt and Viola (Nichols) Hurst. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill Stevens; daughter, Jody Mason; grandchild, David Tyler Mason; and siblings, Barbara Rubadue and Richard Hurst.

Susan attended Columbus North High School. Following high school, her career spanned many years from working in customer service at an auto repair shop to a teacher’s aide for the Columbus City Schools, working as a guard at the Columbus Museum of Art, and being a homemaker.

In her free time, Susan enjoyed gardening and she loved art, especially landscape paintings and classic artworks. In addition to art, Susan loved animals of all kinds. She was a volunteer in her children’s school classrooms and as a crossing guard, as well as being a volunteer at Overbrook Presbyterian Church. Outside of volunteer work, she loved to travel with her husband and spend time with friends and family.

Susan will be greatly missed by her children, Lisa (Mark) O’Riordan and Scott (Enddy) Stevens; grandchildren, Bridget O’Riordan, Cate Vavrinak, Jessica, Dustin, and Jarod Mason; brother, David (Sandy) Hurst; and numerous extended family and close family friends.

A sharing of memories for Susan will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085, followed by a visitation until 7:00 PM.
