Phillip Craig Ryan, 74, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024. He was born on May 17, 1949, in Richmond, Indiana. He was a longtime resident of Columbus, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Esther Ryan. Survived by Jennifer, his wife of 32 years; his sisters Lynda Ryan and Lois Mayhew; 2 brothers-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law; 2 nieces and 5 nephews.
During his younger years Phil was the family photographer, having created albums of each member’s portrait at their leisure or pursuit. Within envelopes are stunning photos of flowers, rugged rock and serene waters, sites from other travels; another flat box contains mounted scenes of children at play. He built computers and kept up with each development of computers and programming. Phil’s prodigious library reflected these and added interests in science, religion and ancient and alternative civilizations (science fiction). He spent 20 plus years writing a fantasy novel weaving these interests together.
Phil had a 15 year career at Columbus State Community College devoted to teaching and the well being of staff and their computers. Later as an inveterate night owl, Phil worked 14 years at Trillium Crossing Senior Residence as the Night Concierge providing safety and an assuring voice for any resident who called the front desk. From this position he kept a closer eye on his parents.
Visitation is Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.at Schoedinger, Worthington. Memorial service to be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Columbus, OH, 43221.
