Peggy peacefully passed on her 83rd birthday: Tuesday, May 10th, 2022. Daughter to the late Roswell Earnest and Violet Kahn Amos of Wooster, Ohio, she is survived by her sister, Jo France; husband, Stephen; sons, Brian, Mitchell and his wife Beth; three grandchildren, Wade, Sam, and Robin; Her nieces Penny Tausch, Vicki Meyer and Becky Davisson, their husbands and children, plus all of the extended family. She loved all of her family deeply and sincerely.
Peggy was a force of nature with a brave and creative spirit. From humble beginnings as the county beauty queen to George Skestos' first secretary, to floral arrangement competitions, she eventually graduated to interior design and was later hired by Mr. Howard Brooks. He asked her to manage his store, which she did for 17 years, until she bought Howard Brooks Interiors with her husband Stephen in 2006. She worked passionately to upgrade people's lives, five a days week or more, until just last month, and she was The Boss for her last 33 years on this earth.
Her artistic sense was present in everything she touched, making clients’ houses into homes, both locally and throughout the U.S. She hosted beautiful dinners and holidays, with a fully decorated table for each unique occasion, and specialty foods like hot fudge sauce or her special fudge. She was like her mom, a wonderful cook.
Peggy was unforgettably vibrant, principled, adventurous and tenacious. She was driving her son’s Ferrari to work in the last year (with oriental rugs for floor mats) and she inspired middle-aged women in December by racing laps in Las Vegas on a professional track. Her personal sense of style never faltered, authentic and glowingly beautiful wherever she went. Peggy loved nature, loved to garden and to cook. She joined the Worthington Hills Garden Club in 1975, eventually serving two consecutive years as President and bringing home many Tri-Color Awards. She loved to read fiction and non fiction, and was a vivacious learner with an open mind to new and better information. She loved all the arts, and to travel, and took in all that she could. She was an inspiration to women and could disarm any man. Peggy will always be loved as everyone's second mom, second grandma, or Auntie P.
