Ned A. Thomas, 79, went home to his Heavenly Father on December 4, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH due to a sudden onset of hemolytic anemia. He was surrounded by his three children and wife of 55 years. Ned was born July 15, 1943 to Albert and Leona (Hart) Thomas at White Cross (Riverside) Hospital in Columbus. Ned was a proud member of the Westerville High School Class of ’61. He attended Cedarville College and graduated from The Ohio State University. He also completed graduate courses at American College. Ned served as a 1st Lt. in the Ohio Air National Guard. Ned’s entire career was in the financial service industry. He earned five professional designations, including Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He was a consultant to several national companies and received numerous industry awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Golden Apple Award for teaching. He was listed in multiple Who’s Who publications. His greatest career satisfaction came from writing and teaching continuing education classes. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He took the time to understand each grandchild’s specific interests and invested his time in encouraging them. Ned was a life-long learner. He pursued interests in history, reading, gardening, cooking, and Biblical studies. An important part of his life was reading through the entire Bible every year. He and his wife read the Bible aloud together daily. He always enjoyed travel; visiting every state, Europe, China, and Africa. The annual family vacation to Lakeside, OH was a beloved tradition. However, his favorite place was at home, experimenting with new cooking variations in his own kitchen and watching the phases of the moon. Ned’s love of the changing seasons grew as he aged, but he waited eagerly all year for autumn and the beginning of the college football season. He was a long time Ohio State football season ticket holder. Ned is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Fedderke), who was his adored and beloved soul mate; his children Amy (late Brian) Shaw, Joy Thomas, and Barrett (Suzanne) Thomas; and 13 grandchildren. Also his brothers, John (Darlene) Thomas, Ron (Jan) Thomas, and sister, Rochelle Ealy. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert and Leona (Hart) Thomas, and brother Tommy Thomas.
