Marge Ackerman beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022. She was born January 26, 1931 in Montreal, Canada to Alvin and Billie Jean Schreiner. Due to prohibition, Marge's family had relocated from Kentucky to Canada so that her father, grandfather, and uncle could continue as master distillers with the Seagram Company. Upon returning to the United States, her family moved back to Kentucky for several years and then to Wooster, Ohio when she was 12. She enjoyed a very happy childhood there and would share many stories about her friends and active years at Wooster High School. It was also there that she met the love of her life, Bob Ackerman, her high school sweetheart. Marge would relish talking about their courtship and dancing under the stars at Chippewa Lake pavilion to the big band sounds of Stan Kenton and others.
On October 16th, 2021 Marge and Bob celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Marge worked as an executive secretary for a law firm in the early years of their marriage. Her greatest achievement and joy was being a supportive and devoted wife, loving mother, and creating a warm and inviting home.
Marge was an avid swimmer, tennis player, and later in life learned to play golf so she could play alongside Bob during their retirement years. Her passions included gourmet cooking, interior decorating, and listening to the beautiful ballads of Brazilian jazz and The Great American Songbook, particularly when sung by Frank Sinatra.
Marge is survived by her husband Bob, her children Christopher (Kathy) of Cary, NC; Julie (Emil) of Potomac Falls, VA; Rob (Victoria) of Bristol, TN; her 7 grandchildren, her 3 great grandchildren, and her sister in law and brother in law Marilou and Keith Beachler of Columbus,OH. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a woman with great style, a love of entertaining in her home, and a quick sense of humor. Never one to miss a party, Marge passed the day after her 91st birthday. She was in hospice care, husband Bob and daughter Julie at her side. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
