With profound sadness, we announce the passing of James Edward Tippett, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Born to James and Mary Tippett, Jim's life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, a commendable career in the Columbus Fire Department, and an infectious sense of humor that brightened the lives of all who knew him.
Jim's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 53 years, Margaret (Peg) Tippett, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and laughter. His spirit lives on through his children, Jason (Lisa), Brian (Jen), Nick Tippett, and Emily (Doug) Martin, his 12 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After being a Sergeant in the Air Force and a Captain in the Columbus Fire Department, Jim retired, leaving behind a legacy of courage and commitment for those that he worked beside and trained. His selfless nature touched the hearts of many within the community. James’s life was a tapestry of selfless acts, laughter shared, and wisdom imparted. His memory will be a beacon of inspiration and love for generations to come.
Visiting hours will be held at Schoedinger Worthington Funeral Home 6699 N. High St, Worthington, OH 43085 on Friday, May 3 (3:00-7:00 pm). A Catholic funeral Mass will take place at Immaculate Conception Church 414 E. N. Broadway St, Columbus, OH 43214 on Saturday, May 4 at 10:00 am followed by a Christian burial at Resurrection Cemetery 9571 N. High St, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association in his honor.
