James E. “Jim” McCoy, 74, of Lewis Center, passed away on June 27, 2024. He was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late James H. and Jean (Whaley) McCoy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Carol Baker and Sue McCoy.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife, Pattie McCoy; daughter Erin (McCoy) Gassin (Brian Gassin); son Sean McCoy; and granddaughters Madison Strane and Cameron Gassin. Also, sisters Sharon Springer, Patty A. McCoy, Michelle McCoy, Linda Harbaugh, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was employed by Waterworks as a plumber for many years but in later years worked as a baker at The Andersons and Kroger. Jim enjoyed golf and played often on courses around Central Ohio with his son, son in law and friends. He was an avid fan of the Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds.
Jim was a generous loving man who greatly enjoyed time with his family and friends. He and Pattie enjoyed going on vacation on various cruises including the East Coast, Canada, Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska.
A service celebrating Jim’s life will be held Sunday September 15th at Schoedinger Funeral Home on High Street in Worthington at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Foundation.OhioHealth.com/Hospice The hospice team took incredibly good care of Jim during his final days and we will be ever grateful for their guidance and help.
