James “Jim” Allen Cox, 75, of Westerville, passed away at his residence, on November 15, 2022. He was born on June 11, 1947, in Ironton Ohio, to the late Paul and Dorothy (Bowers) Cox. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, whom he met in 7th grade, Yvette Cox; and his siblings, Paul Ed Carter, David L. Cox, Betty L. Lewis, Donna Faye Osborne, and Joan Blevins. Jim is survived by his sister, Belinda Burnheimer and his sister-in-law, Renette Wooten.
Following graduation from Ironton High School, Jim joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for two years and was stationed in Alaska and Italy. Following his military service, Jim attended The Ohio State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. The majority of Jim’s working career was spent working for multiple insurance companies and retiring as a regional manager overseeing several states.
In his free time Jim had many interests. Perhaps his greatest joy was spending time with his wife Yvette. They enjoyed traveling together and especially taking day trips for photography. He was very proud of his photography and specifically enjoyed taking photographs of nature. These photos won him several awards at the Ohio State Fair. In addition to spending time with his wife and photography, Jim loved to dance, do yoga, and he loved his dogs. Growing up Jim was in the Boy Scouts and he was proud to say that he was the youngest Eagle Scout in the state of Ohio at that time.
Per Jim’s request there will be no services.
Jim had a great passion for donating and had a special connection to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Donations can be made in his memory to the Mid-Ohio food bank at https://mofc.org
