Geraldine Bailey, 90, of Dublin, Ohio passed away on February 18th. She was born on November 10, 1932, to Forest and Alta Whitmore Voss of Mazomanie, Wisconsin. Gerry grew up in Mazomanie where she graduated in 1950, as salutatorian of her high school class. She attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and then went on to graduate from The University of Wisconsin in 1954 with a Bachelor of Music Education. She was a music educator in the Wisconsin public schools and went on to receive her Masters in 1973. Gerry was an accomplished pianist and organist, performing professionally. She loved leading sing-alongs, where she would take requests and play for hours. Gerry composed several children’s musicals, and many were published and then performed by church youth and school theatre groups. She taught piano lessons privately for 40 years in Grove City and Dublin, Ohio. Her students leave a legacy of her love for music. She loved traveling the world with Doug, her husband of more than 50 years. They spent many weekends at Lake Erie fishing, and would share their catch with the church, friends, and family throughout the year. After residing in Grove City for over 40 years, they spent the last 10 at Dublin Retirement Village where she would lead hymn sings, play poker, and started a bell choir. She is preceded in death by Reverend Doug Bailey, her beloved husband. Both will be laid to rest with Gerry’s family in Mazomanie, Wisconsin. She is survived by her son, Rick (Linda Sommerfield), daughter Sue (Mike Zazon), stepson Jonathan (Sophie Xiong); 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. A service for friends and family will be held at Dublin Community Church on March 2nd at 10am, with a light lunch following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Dublin Community Church/UCC – Music Program, 81 W Bridge St, Dublin, OH 43017. Arrangements are with SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL.
