Gary T. Keyser, age 69, of Dublin, formerly of Marietta, passed away on August 6, 2024. Born on June 12, 1955, to Alfred and Ruth Keyser, Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
A proud graduate of Marietta High School and The Ohio State University, Gary married his high school sweetheart, Kristen (Kah) Keyser, and together they built a life rich in love and devotion. In addition to Kristen, he is survived by his children, Eli (Christie) Keyser and Sarah (Sean) Zink; and his cherished grandchildren, Michael Zink, Zander Keyser, Scarlett Keyser, and Damian Keyser. Gary will also be missed by his sister, Lela (Donald) Groves, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary’s life was marked by a deep dedication to his family and his passions. His love for swimming was evident, culminating in national-level competition in 1973. He was also a devoted leader in the Boy Scouts of America from 1992 to 1998 and served as an Elder at the Scioto Valley Christian Union Church. His commitment to community and service extended to his work with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, where he enjoyed a fulfilling 35-year career.
An enthusiastic outdoorsman, Gary cherished his time camping and hunting at the family farm in Chillicothe, Ohio. His patriotism and lineage as a descendant of the Mayflower were sources of great pride. Gary lived by the belief that “When you live in the past, you miss the present, and you have no future,” a testament to his forward-looking and optimistic nature.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1:00pm at Schoedinger Worthington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delaware State Park Campground, honoring his love for nature and the outdoors to: Delaware Volunteer Association, 5202 US Hwy 23 North, Delaware, Ohio 43015
A memorial service for Gary will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, OH 43085.
