Eric William Mumford

Eric William Mumford passed away on April 4, 2025 in Mt. Gilead, Ohio following a brief illness. He was born in September of 1984 in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Worthington schools where he graduated from Worthington Kilbourne High School. Eric participated in band, football and track in high school. He then went on to attend The Ohio State University.

Eric later joined the Ohio National Guard and specialized in artillery. He served proudly and was honorably discharged. Most recently he worked at Abbott Laboratories where he worked hard and was promoted to more responsible positions.

Eric enjoyed life to the fullest. He owned two motorcycles at the time of his passing and a white water kayak. He liked to ski and snowboard in his younger days and went hang gliding one summer. He also enjoyed NASCAR, target shooting, and had obtained a boating license that he used at Alum Creek. His interests were varied and at one point he had taken up painting. He had a passion for learning and expanding his knowledge. Eric had an easy smile and a kind heart that led him to rescue his best friend “Teddy” (his dog) from a dumpster. Eric was eagerly looking forward to becoming a father and had begun changes to their home to accommodate twins. He was loyal to his friends and family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Eric is survived by his beloved fiancé, Carlee Weatherington, and his unborn twin daughters. He is also survived by his parents, William and Latona Mumford of Worthington, Ohio, his brother, Todd Mumford (Kayla), nieces, Olivia and Hailey, his grandmother, Zona Claytor, of Mansfield, Ohio and his uncles, Harold Claytor (Ginger) of Newport News, Virginia and Jay Mumford of Marion, Ohio as well as aunts, Mary Shumaker (Larry) and Deanne Scott (Gary) of Marion Ohio and cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 11am until 1pm, where a Funeral Service will follow at 1pm, at the Schoedinger Worthington funeral home, 6699 North High St., Worthington OH, 43085.
