Elaine Dean

Elaine J. Dean, 101, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023. She was born March 19, 1922, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Rudolf and Louise Dressler. Elaine is survived by daughter, Pam (Don) Seidelmann, grandchildren; Austin (Annie) Harvey, Alison (Rob) Adams, Jon (Mary) Seidelmann, and Mark (Kim) Seidelmann, great grandchildren; Dean Harvey, Everett, Edison, and Mara Adams, Ben, Luke, and Jude Seidelmann, Kate and Will Seidelmann, along with other dear family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, her loving husband of 65 years, Bob L. Dean, and her sister, Delores Kissling.

Following High School, Elaine enrolled in Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing (Ft. Wayne, IN), graduating as a registered Nurse. She then began her career in the Army Nurse Corps for 2 years. Years later, she worked as an office nurse / teachers’ aide at Bexley Jr. High School for 25 years. Elaine was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1948. She lived out her faith by teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, being a part of the altar guild and Ladies’ Aid. Elaine was lover of music, bowling, flowers, the sea shore, specifically, Lake Superior and the Gulf Coast of Florida, where she would collect seashells, She was a loving Mom, Grandma, and great grandma who cherished her time with her family. Elaine was a classy, kind, gracious, patient, and supportive person, she will be missed deeply. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 766 S. High St., Columbus, OH 43206, or to Habitat for Humanity- Mid Ohio, 6665 Busch Blvd, Columbus, OH 43229. Family will receive friends Monday, August 7, 2023, from 5-7PM at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 6699 N. High St., and visitation at 10AM with a Funeral Service at 11AM, the following day, August 8, 2023, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 766 S. High Street, Columbus, OH.
