Donald David Decatur, age 94, was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School with a bachelor and master’s degree from The Ohio State University. He supervised summer school at West High and his wife is the former Jo Anne Bryant a West alumna. He served as Assistant Principal at Westmoor and Principal at Hilltonia and Everett, and also enjoyed teaching at the Art College on Saturdays. During the Korean War he served as 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army in Germany. Donald, a baseball enthusiast, enjoyed the Cincinnati Reds and coaching and playing softball in the Old Timer’s League at Whetstone Park. Donald spent his retirement years with Jo Anne in Clearwater, FL.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jo Anne, his brother Robert and his parents Elmer and Hilda. He is survived by his children Ellen, Tom, Amy and Nancy; eight grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm, Friday, July 19, 2024 at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N. High St. (1/2 mile south of I-270). A graveside service will be held at 9:15am Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Union Cemetery.
