It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Debra “Debbie” McGrew, 60, who courageously fought cancer until her last moments, on October 15, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family at home.
Debbie was born July 17, 1964, in North Hollywood, CA, to father Charles Corcoran and mother Winifred Corcoran. Her father preceded her in death.
Debbie graduated from Westerville North High School in 1982 and earned her business degree from Bowling Green State University in 1986.
Debbie was a devoted mother, and her son, Charles “Chip", was her pride and joy. Chip describes his mother as a selfless woman who showed empathy and kindness to everyone she met.
She loved the beach and her family more than anything. Prior to her battle with cancer, Debbie was able to spend a summer vacation with her mother, sisters, and their families. Her family will remember all of the special life moments and holidays in which they spent together, especially her holiday cookies and apple pie.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Charles Corcoran. She is survived by her son Chip, her mother Winnie, her sisters Kelly (David) Johnson, Linda (Jason) Cowgill, nieces Mackenzie Johnson (partner, Preston Maddock), Carly (Jamie) Burpee, Camryn Johnson (partner, Josue Joya-Rodriguez), and nephews Sam Cowgill and Spencer Cowgill.
Debbie and her family would like to thank her friends and coworkers at HR Butler, who have generously supported her this past year. Their kindness did not go unnoticed.
Debbie’s family is forever grateful for the service and care provided by her home hospice team. Donations can be made to Foundation.OhioHealth.com/Hospice
In lieu of flowers, Debbie has requested a donation of blankets to a charity dear to her heart, April’s Blankets. Donations to April’s Blanket’s will be used to serve the homeless community in Central Ohio. There will be a collection bin during calling hours.
A visitation for Debbie will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, OH 43085.
