Barbara Deitch, age 83, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Danbury Senior Living in Columbus. Born in 1939 in The Bronx, she was a loving wife, cherished mother, grandma extraordinaire, and fabulous executive secretary.
She and her husband, Richard, and daughter, Linda, moved from Bayside, Queens, New York to Northern Virginia in 1972 and then to Worthington in 1974, where Barbara worked for many years at the National Water Well Association, a trade group for the ground water industry. People in Central Ohio were amazed to hear her Bronx accent, which remained her whole life.
Barbara loved gardening, decorating, reading, and watching documentaries. She also loved to shop and had a great sense of style. She collected antiques, British Royal Family items, teddy bears, china, and bunny rabbit figurines; made a great apricot brandy honey cake; and used the suburban classified ads to plan out garage sale routes all over town. Her sense of humor is legendary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 2020. Survived by daughter Linda (Andy) Resnik and granddaughter, Melanie; brother Larry (Diane) Fried, and many other dear family members and friends. Burial was held at Flint Cemetery north of Worthington.
Since Barbara loved to go treasure hunting at the Discovery Shop in Upper Arlington, donations in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Manager, American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, 1198 Kenny Centre Mall, Columbus, OH 43220.
