Alan B Cook

Alan is survived by his loving wife, of 51 years, Rita J. Cook, children; Eric Cook (Whitney) and Ross Cook (Holly). He is also survived by his twin brother Alvin Cook (Kathy), sister Carolyn McMaster (Ron), 5 grandchildren, and dear family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first-born child, Bryan Cook.

Alan was an avid sportsman who enjoyed the great outdoors while hunting and fishing. He went on to collect impressive trophies from the land and water.

Alan was a building supply salesman specializing in lumber. He had a long career in the industry for 45 years starting out hand unloading railcars to becoming a top salesman in Ohio. His passion for the industry still lives on with his son Eric who had the honor to work with Alan for 15 years.

Raising three energetic boys brought on a passion for soccer. Alan was a coach on each of his sons traveling club teams. He influenced many young aspiring soccer players. Alan and Rita fell in love with the sport and played in adult leagues. Early on they became friends with many professional soccer players from around the world who came to the US to play and coach youth teams.

Early in life Alan was a thrill seeker who enjoyed jumping dirt bikes and riding trails. Alan and his twin brother Alvin became black belts in Bando, a martial arts style from Myanmar.

He enjoyed taking trips with his wife to Mexico where they explored the ancient pyramids and civilizations. They also loved swimming and drinking strawberry daiquiris while sunbathing pool side with friends and family.

For 25 years Alan battled prostate cancer. Despite the difficulties this brought on he still found the joy in life and did not let it slow him down. He lived life to the fullest extent and made the best of every opportunity while making others laugh. A Celebration of Life will be held and details to be announced at a later date.
