Mr. William “Scotty” Stephens, Jr, 73, of Woodstock, GA passed away February 2, 2015. He was born on April 2, 1941 in Danville, VA to the late Bertha Beach and William Moore Stephens, Sr. After graduating from George Washington High School, Scotty joined the United States Navy in 1959. Scotty served honorably for 30 years. He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in Dec 1989. After retirement, he worked for Lockheed Martin and Peach State Fire. As a devoted Christian, Scotty found joy volunteering his time and talents along with Eagle Crest Baptist Church. He was a devoted father and grandfather who spent every summer with his grandchildren. He was a very loving father and friend who will be missed by all that knew him. Scotty was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Stephens and Rhoda Frances Stephens Setliff. He leaves behind daughters, Angela Stephens of Woodstock, GA and Kimberly Tomlinson (Bryan) of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Catherine and Carson Tomlinson of Jacksonville, FL and nephews, Stephen and Stuart Setliff. A memorial service with full Military Honors will be Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11:00am in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Scotty will be buried at sea in the time honored, ancient tradition practiced by mariners of old.
