Mr. William C. (Bill) Rogers, age 81, of Kennesaw, GA, passed away on May 8, 2020. Bill Rogers grew up in East Point, GA, and graduated from Russell High School in 1957. He was a member of East Point First United Methodist Church where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 54 and was a volunteer.
Bill graduated from Georgia Tech in Civil Engineering and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and the Georgia Tech Flying Club. He was a principal civil engineer at Southern Engineering Company in Atlanta and founded a successful engineering company, Bill Rogers Engineering, in 1982, where he worked until his retirement. He also worked in environmental consulting and ground water rehabilitation as a principal in Alford, Rogers, Cullimore Concepts, Inc. Bill was a professional civil engineer and the holder of several U.S. patents. He consulted for the EPA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and internationally. He worked tirelessly for affordable, clean water solutions across the globe.
Bill was active in many professional organizations and was a charter board member of the Georgia Rural Water Association, which he and his colleagues founded. He designed and built the first wastewater treatment constructed wetlands project in Georgia. He also enjoyed piloting small aircraft, fly fishing and sports.
Bill is survived by his beloved daughters, Kelley Rogers Roberts (Brad) and Christie Rogers Montgomery (Robert), and four wonderful grandchildren, Bryan Roberts (Kelli), Kirk Roberts, Rob Montgomery and Kate Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Christine Smarr Rogers, and his sister, Genie Rogers Rucker, and her husband, I.G. Rucker. A memorial will be held in the future at a time yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Alzheimers Association or the American Heart Association.
