What a joy to have known Bill and Dean for 30 years!  They were so precious to our daughter, Vonda, who lived with them a short time during her job-search after college.  They were truly people who you could use as a wonderful role model in your life.  Dean, I know your heart is hurting to have to give the love of your life up, but I know you have the blessed comfort of knowing he is in Heaven and no longer is suffering. Dean, I want to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of Uncle Bill.  He was a sweet man that had such a beautiful smile.  For some reason, he crossed my mind this morning.  I was thinking how much he loved Bluegrass Music and decided to put his name in the computer and see if I could find anything listed.  I was shocked when I found his obituary.  I remember being at Aunt Frances's house--Nina and my sister Judy, when Grandma Bessie passed away, and he put this nylon stocking on his head and was playing with us.  He had such a sense of humor.  I also remember when you and Uncle Bill came to visit Mom and Dad and the Atlanta Braves were playing I believe the Cleveland Indians and we were rooting for opposite teams and, of course, if my memory serves me right, the Braves won.  He will be sadly missed by all.  I just lost my Mom, Becky, about a year ago but I would never wish back the suffering she went through and I know she is in a better place. Dean - I have fond memories from my childhood when you and Bill and my Mom and Dad would have Sunday Dinner after cshurch.  We were fortunate to reconnect with you all recently and visit with you and Bill.  You have both been blessings in our life  You are in our prayers.  God bless and keep you.

I was privileged to meet Bill and Dean because of my job with hospice.  What a rare and beautiful couple they are...so full of love with a kind word for everyone.  On my first visit, Bill was in some pain and when I asked if he needed medication, he said, "I'm taking enough medication!  I don't want anymore."  He was, however, open to an aromatherapy blend to alleviate pain which I mixed for him at his bedside one day.  He continued to use it and when the nurse came to visit a week later, he told her, "Don't forget to put on that stuff the "witch doctor" made for me.  It really helps!"  The minute he said that he quickly recanted and said, "Oh, don't tell her I called her a witch doctor.  I don't want to hurt her feelings!"  How sweet was that!  Paula, his nurse, laughed out loud saying, "Oh, Lord, Bill, she'll probably make a badge of it!"  She's right! Dean, I love you and Bill and count myself so blessed for having met the two of you.  I aspire to be as kind and loving and open to others as you are.  I pray that you may be blessed with that peace that passes all understanding until you are safe home.

We met Bill and Dean many years ago as we attended Shiloh Hills Baptist Church together.  They soon became some of our very dearest friends.  What servant hearts they exemplified.  If anyone needed something there were there to help supply the need.  We missed them very much when we moved away but were always encouraged knowing we were in their prayers.

We want you to know how fortunate we have been having you and Bill as our neighbors for over thirty years.  We will always treasure your friendship.  Know you are in our thoughts and prayers and may God offer you comfort during this time.

Bill was one of the best Christians that I have ever known, as is his wife Dean.  Their hearts have always been centered on spreading the gospel message, and they have done everything in their power to help in Missions work all over the world.  Bill set the highest standards for all us that carry the banner for Christ!

I was highly blessed to have been given all the joy that I have received from getting to know Bill this past year. Bill had such a good character and sweet spirit. I loved everything about him, especially his strong love for Christ. It shined right through him. No matter how my day was going, his smile always brightened my day. He was truly one of the most pleasant people I have ever gotten to know. He will be missed.

Though I haven't seen Bill in many years, I have fond memories of our times together in two Cobb County churches back in the late '60s and early 70's. Bill was a humble, never tiring servant of God, along with his wife, Dean. My condolences and prayers go out to Dean and the entire family. I sorrow with you in the loss of Bill, yet rejoice with you because he is in heaven. God bless!
