Vicki Elaine (Jewell) Bagley of Kennesaw, GA, passed away from cancer at the age of 77 on September 10, 2023. Vicki fought her illness privately with courage, a level head, and her signature cheer and wit sparkling the entire way through. Her final moments were full of love and spent in her home with her husband and daughter by her side.
Vicki was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 25, 1946 to Inez Bernice (Suckow) Jewell and Rudolphus Dick Jewell. She grew up in Rockford, MI and graduated from Rockford High School in 1964, where she was a Varsity cheerleader and was crowned Homecoming Queen of 1964. On September 18, 1965, Vicki married Ronald Garth Bagley, who also grew up in Rockford and attended Rockford High School. Vicki and Ron welcomed their daughter Erin Marie (Bagley) Grant on May 22, 1976.
Vicki and Ron left Rockford and moved to Highlands, NC, where they spent 8 wonderful years in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. Later the Bagleys moved to Jackson, MS; Charlotte, NC; Daytona Beach, FL; and finally settled in the Atlanta, GA area in 1989. Vicki held a variety of positions throughout her career including at Hampton Learning Center (NC), St. Andrew’s Episcopal School (MS), and in Georgia at DuPont, Koch, and Invista companies. She spent many years volunteering for Atlanta theaters including the Fox Theatre, which was particularly dear to her heart. After retiring in 2011, Vicki also spent many years volunteering at Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue in Kennesaw, GA.
Vicki was adventurous and fearless; she enjoyed hang gliding, scooting around on her red moped, and traveled frequently with her friends. Always full of joy, her smile lit up every room and welcomed all with comforting acceptance. She loved entertaining friends and family and was a skilled hostess and cook. Vicki had a deep appreciation of music, art, and theater, and loved animals dearly. She had many wonderful friends from all parts of her life - from her childhood and high school years up through the present, and from each place she lived and worked. Vicki was simply the best wife, mother, and friend that anyone could ask for. She is beloved to all who knew her and her presence was a gift to us all. We will miss her dearly.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Inez Jewell, and two brothers, Bill Ernest (Ernie) Jewell and Dick Leroy (Shorty) Jewell. She is survived by her husband Ron Bagley, daughter Erin Grant, and nephew Michael Jewell and family.
A funeral visitation and service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on September 15, 2023 at the Woodstock Funeral Home in Woodstock, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue in Kennesaw, GA would be greatly appreciated. https://mostlymutts.org/
