He was my Uncle and even though I had not seen him for many years, my memories of him from my youth are still vivid. He was always the youngest of my grandfathers offsprings and as such I could see this in how he was treated by my grandmother and my father. The last time I saw him was at the Kentucky Derby in 1977 when Seattle Slew won and went on to win the Triple Crown. I searched him out at the track and found him with my cousins having just a good of time as I was having. I do not know my cousins well at all but I remember Uncle Fred and Aunt Lynn very well and always enjoyed their company and little talks I used to have with both of them. I wish I would have been closer but growing up on the opposite coast makes these things difficult. I think he lived a good life and I hope he is welcomed into the house of God with open arms.
