Peter (Pete) Douglass Taylor passed away on June 9th, 2023. He died at Kennestone Hospital from a pulmonary embolism. He was 74. Pete was born on May 11th, 1949, in Queens, New York, son of Ruth Bade Muth Taylor Seyler and Douglass Hurlbert Taylor. His siblings are Steven Muth, Patricia Kinstrey (deceased), Ronnie Lazzaro (deceased), David Taylor (deceased), Richard Muth, and Jeannie Taylor Modert (deceased).
Pete married Susan Carr Taylor on August 21st, 1971, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rosendale, New York. Places of residence: Queens, New York; High Falls, New York; Stone Ridge, New York; Roswell, Georgia; Tampa, Florida; Woodstock, Georgia. He attended Rondout Valley High School and Ulster County Community College in New York. He joined the Army National Guard where he served as a cook in Kingston, New York. He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in mortgage accounting and investments in New York, Georgia and Florida. He became a realtor and worked for Century 21 as a real estate agent in Tampa, Florida.
Pete is survived by his wife, Susan Carr Taylor, and his children: Peter D. Taylor, Jr. and spouse Lori, Jennifer N. Foster and spouse Christian, Michael S. Taylor and spouse Rachel, Brian D. Taylor and spouse Candace; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his chihuahua, Sunny, and his long-time friend and brother-in-law, James Carr. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Pete loved golf, tennis, gardening, Lego’s, The New York Yankees, the New York Jets and fishing - disappointed that Amicalola Falls was not stocked with trout as often as he would have liked 😉. He was an incredible teacher and mentor to all those he loved. The words that sum up his life are Love, Family and Roses.
The service will be at 2:30pm on Friday, June 16th, at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia. Reception at the church hall will follow.
