Peter Minton Chester, son of Hawley T. Chester, Jr. and Helen Cronkhite Chester, was born in Greenwich, Ct on January 13, 1950. Peter was named after his Uncle Peter, of NYC, who died in WWII and his grandfather Minton Cronkhite of Pasadena, CA. He died suddenly and unexpectedly from complications related to a heart attack on August 26, 2022 in Marietta, GA.
Peter was educated at the Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT and graduated from St. George’s School, Newport, RI in 1968. He then graduated from Denver University, Denver, CO in 1972.
Peter worked as a stockbroker with the Fahenstock Group, NY when he met and married Kjersti Warren in 1980. They had one daughter, Caroline Chester Katz.
Peter moved to Atlanta, GA in 1984 and worked for Bell South in their cable communications section. He later attended the John Marshall Law School, clerked for Judge G. Alan Blackburn and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2003. Peter was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2004 and worked for the law firm of Glasser and Schaeffer from 2005 to 2012 from which he retired.
He is survived by his sister Tracy Chester, Venice, FL, his brother Hawley T. Chester III, Sandy Springs, GA, his wife of 20 years Lisa Daniell Chester, Woodstock, GA, his daughter Caroline Chester Katz and her husband Andrew Katz, Waxhaw, NC and his two grandchildren Eliza and George Katz, Waxhaw, NC.
Peter was a beloved fan of the New York Football Giants, the Denver University Pioneers Championship Hockey teams as well as the Tennis and Golf teams, his adopted Kennesaw State Owls sports teams, was a member of the Fairways of Canton, played Georgia Senior Golf, was an avid ALTA player on several teams and favored attending concerts presented by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Roswell United Methodist Church Chapel, 11 am.
