Norma Burgin Hipps

She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of Robert Lester Burgin Sr. and Helen McLaughlin Burgin. She was married to Carroll Guy Hipps, Jr. who passed away in 1991.

Norma graduated from Western Carolina University and retired from Haywood County School System as an elementary school teacher. She taught in Canton and Waynesville at Beaverdam and Junaluska Schools. Norma was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waynesville.

Norma is survived by her son Douglas Hipps; daughters Helen Hipps Blaine and Bonnie Hipps Parent; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 7, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Alexandra Davis Hipps officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
