Nancy called Charlotte home, spending the majority of her life there in a close-knit family. Nancy was a graduate of Harding High School, Pfeiffer College and University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Nancy’s life was dedicated to education, teaching and counseling high school students. She called teenagers her “jam” and enjoyed being on staff at Olympic High school for many years making a lasting impression on students.
An avid gardener with a green thumb, Nancy enjoyed her garden and flowers. Her main love in life was her grandchildren, spending countless hours loving and pouring out to them. She shared her back yard as the “100-acre woods” for her grandchildren inspiring curiosity and love of stories.
Nancy’s life was one of resilience, love and faith. A lifetime churchgoer whose love of Jesus deepened at the death of her grandchild Stephen. Those who knew her commented on her smile and her thick dark hair she kept until her death.
Nancy was preceded by her husband Mack, sons Michael and Timothy, and grandsons Stephen and Seth. She is survived by her children: Richard (and Shelly) Johnston, Joni (and Eric) Kreul, Rebecca (and Chris) Richardson/Kanute, and daughter in law Tammy Richardson; grandchildren: Matthew, Ashton, Timothy, Grace, Luke, Ella, Levi, Benjamin, Chase and Justin; sisters Barbara (and John) Kirkpatrick, and Frankie (and Ed) Wolf, along with nieces and nephews.
Free from her earthly body, Nancy is walking streets of gold with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her last days included visions of heaven and peace that passed all understanding.
